UJIJI HISTORICAL SITE TOUR

Visitors will enjoy a walking tour of Ujiji old town, which is full of history of the slave trade and it's abolition. Walking caravan routes covered with mango trees planted by slaves will give you time to meditate on the experiences of those who passed along this trail. Visit an old slave market and a mosque used by a powerful slave trader, among other powerful sights. 

Afterwards, visit the Dr. Livingstone to learn about his historic journeys and missionary activities in Africa. 


This tour takes 3-4 hours.

VISIT GOMBE AND MAHALE NATIONAL PARKS

Famously the site of Jane Goodal's research into primate behavior, Gombe is located 20 km from Kigoma town. Chimpanzees are visible on the trails through the hills and mountains. Vervet and red olobus monkeys also live here. Mahale is a Chimpanzee sanctuary where 1,700 chimps live. This park lies on the lake shore.

This tour takes 1-3 days spending your nights within the park. Gombe can also be explored in a day trip.

HIKING TO KITWE FOREST RESERVE

Explore the beautiful forest reserve near Kigoma town. Learn about the different tree species, get in touch with nature, and find out which plants are used for traditional medicines. Monkeys, antelope, and zebra live here as well as many bird and butterfly species. You will also get to walk on the shore of the lake. Finish your hike with a refreshing swim in the crystal waters of Kitwe's pebble beach!

VISIT TO MV LIEMBA

Explore the old ship known as the "African Queen" that was built in 1913 in Germany. Learn about its history and connection to German and British colonialism.  After, you'll also have the chance visit the nearby kitenge market.

EXPLORE LAKE TANGAYIKA

Swim, canoe, or take a dhow/ boat tour with us on Lake Tanganyika! It is the largest of the African Great Lakes, and home to a massive variety of fish species. You will get enough time to meditate and refresh your body and mind in the water while swimming. Walking with your bare feet on the beach is wonderful.

LOCAL FOOD

We ae proud of our cooking here in Kigoma. Allow us to serve you cassava ugali, fish from Lake Tanganyika, and local vegetables. Sample our regional fruit, and taste the love of the African mamas in every bite.
Participate in a cassava pounding experience by pounding the cassava for yourself until you get the cassava flour which is used to make cassava ugali.
